Wallace Elementary School
Lew Wallace School was first founded in 1908 at Calumet Avenue and Conkey Street. The current Lew Wallace Elementary, located at 6235 Jefferson Avenue, was built in 1969, with a major remodel with the addition of classrooms in 1998. Wallace is named after Lewis Wallace, an American soldier, lawyer, diplomat, and author who is most remembered for his historical novel “Ben-Hur”. Go Bobcats!
