Emergency Preparedness Drills Notice for October

Emergency Preparedness Drills Notice for October

Dear Parents and Guardians,

As part of our ongoing commitment to student safety, we will be conducting emergency preparedness drills, also known as lockdown drills, throughout the month of October at various schools. These drills are crucial for ensuring that students and staff are prepared in the event of an emergency. Schools in Indiana are required to do a “Lockdown Drill”, in which schools simulate what the procedures are when “Lockdown” mode is activated. During these drills, our faculty and staff will ensure all students are out of the hallways and secured in a safe location as part of the “Run, Hide, Fight” training. In addition, these drills allow our students and staff to practice safety procedures, while also helping the SCH Security Team gather knowledge and assess areas for improvement to make us all safer.

Below are the scheduled dates for each school:

October:

·         9th - Central & O'Bannon

·         10th - Edison & Morton Elementary

·         11th - Hess & Irving

·         14th - Burns-Hicks & Lincoln

·         15th - Eggers & Franklin

·         21st - Area Career Center (ACC)

·         22nd - Jefferson

·         23rd - Harding

·         28th - Morton High School & Scott

We encourage you to discuss the importance of these drills with your child to help them understand the procedures. If you have any questions, please contact your child’s school office.

Thank you for your cooperation and support in maintaining a safe and secure learning environment for all. The safety and education of our students is and will always be our number one priority. We appreciate your continued support as we provide our faculty, staff, and students with critical information and training to aid in keeping them safe at our schools.
